I did a great photoshoot with Hannah of hzd photography this past weekend. We went for a stripped down look with street clothes and minimal costumes to better highlight the beauty of the body and the rope. Expect to see more photos here soon. They speak for themselves--Hannah's work is beautiful and she is wonderful to work with. Check her out at http://www.hzdphotography.com/ .
David ( http://davidparker.co ) and I started our residency at Modern Fuel Artist Run Centre last week, working on our echolocation project. The project is an investigation into the relationship between sound, technology and the body, with particular attention to how attention to bodily sounds affects the reception of circus performance. So far we've mostly been collecting the sounds of my breathing, heartbeat and movement while doing aerial work, dance, contortion and handstands using mics from Modern Fuel's new flexible workspace, a stethoscope and contact mics. David is also working on building some new, more robust technology that will allow our experimentation will proceed more smoothly. I'm looking forward to spending more time learning how my body sounds, and how the technology will manipulate the sounds of my movement so I can consider these dynamics within the bounds of my choreography.
The residency goes until June and we will be hosting workshops, an artist talk and performance while we are there. Dates TBA. For more info about the residency, click here. |
