Echolocation
A collaboration between Jane Kirby and David Parker, echolocation is an exploration of the sonic dimensions of circus arts. Challenging the spectacularly visual nature of circus, this series of interdisciplinary circus acts and digital media experiments explores sound as an embodied way of knowing and as a way of finding intimacy with the audience. Originally performed as an experimental rope piece for the Transitional Spaces showcase at the Contemporary Circus Arts Festival of Toronto, additional components were developed in residence at the Modern Fuel Artist-Run Centre and with the support of the Ontario Arts Council, and performed at the Skeleton Park Arts Festival and the In the Soil Festival.
